Email Migration

Email migration without the lost mail, downtime or drama.

We move businesses onto Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace from every major platform - mail, calendars, contacts and files - with cutovers scheduled around your business, not ours. More than 50 large migration projects delivered.

Migration paths

Every migration path we run

Fixed-scope migrations with a tested runbook for each source platform.

On-premises Exchange → Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace

Retire the ageing Exchange server: hybrid or cutover migration, mail flow re-pointed, server decommissioned safely.

GoDaddy → Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace

Out of GoDaddy-hosted email (including their bundled Microsoft 365) into a tenant you actually control - defederation handled.

Rackspace → Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace

From Rackspace hosted mailboxes to a modern platform, with full mail history and folder structures preserved.

Microsoft 365 → Microsoft 365 (tenant to tenant)

Mergers, demergers and rebrands: mailboxes, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams moved between tenants with domain re-pointing sequenced properly.

Microsoft 365 → Google Workspace

Full platform switch - mail, calendar, contacts and Drive - with staff shown where everything landed.

Google Workspace → Microsoft 365

The reverse trip, equally well-worn: Gmail, Calendar and Drive into Exchange Online, OneDrive and SharePoint.

IMAP email → Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace

cPanel, Zoho, Fastmail and other IMAP hosts - mailbox contents lifted into the new platform even when the old host offers no export tooling.

How we run a migration

  • Discovery - mailbox sizes, aliases, shared mailboxes, distribution lists, connected apps and devices, DNS state
  • Pre-staging - bulk of the historical mail synced to the new platform ahead of time, while the old system stays live
  • Cutover - MX records re-pointed in a scheduled after-hours window; final delta sync catches everything in between
  • Landing - devices reconfigured, signatures and SPF/DKIM/DMARC set up properly on the new platform, old platform read-only until you say so
  • Verification - per-mailbox item counts compared before we call it done

Having delivered more than 50 large migration projects - multi-hundred-seat tenants, multi-domain groups, and every source platform listed above - the runbooks are tested, the edge cases are known, and the fixed-price quote actually holds.

What gets migrated

  • Email, including full folder structures and historical mail
  • Calendars, including shared and resource calendars
  • Contacts and distribution lists
  • Shared mailboxes and aliases
  • Files - OneDrive, SharePoint, Google Drive - on cross-platform and tenant moves
  • Signatures, mail flow rules and DNS records (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) rebuilt correctly on the destination

Just as importantly: nothing is deleted at the source until item counts verify and you sign off. The old platform is your rollback for as long as you want it.

Email migration FAQs

Will we lose email during the cutover?

No. Mail is pre-staged while your old system stays live, the MX cutover happens in a scheduled after-hours window, and a final delta sync catches anything that arrived during the switch. Item counts are verified per mailbox before the project closes.

How long does a migration take?

Small businesses are typically pre-staged and cut over within a week; multi-hundred-seat or tenant-to-tenant projects run to a planned schedule over several weeks. The mailbox data volume drives the timeline more than the seat count.

Can you migrate us out of GoDaddy-managed Microsoft 365?

Yes - it's one of our most common jobs. GoDaddy tenants are federated to GoDaddy's control, so the defederation step has to be sequenced carefully before the move. We handle that, then migrate you into a tenant you own outright.

Do our staff have to do anything?

Very little - we reconfigure Outlook, mobile devices and shared access, and provide a short "where everything is now" guide. Most users notice a new login screen and nothing else.

What does it cost?

Fixed-price, quoted from mailbox count and data volume after a short discovery call. No per-surprise billing - if we find complexity in discovery, it goes in the quote, not the invoice.
