Microsoft's published Australian prices, per user per month on an annual commitment, excluding GST - current as at July 2026. Business plans are capped at 300 users.
Business Basic — AU$10.50
Web and mobile Office apps only, business email on your domain, Teams, and 1 TB OneDrive per user. The starting point for email-first teams.
Apps for Business — AU$15.80
Desktop Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook with 1 TB OneDrive - but no business email or Teams. For teams that only need the apps.
Business Standard — AU$35.20
Desktop, web and mobile apps, email, Teams, Clipchamp and now Microsoft 365 Copilot included. The default choice for most SMBs.
Business Premium — AU$47.90
Everything in Standard plus Intune device management, Defender for Office 365, conditional access and information protection - and Copilot included. Our recommendation for any business that takes security seriously.
What each plan actually includes
Microsoft folded Copilot into the mainstream Business plans in 2026, which changed both the pricing and the value equation. Here is what sits behind each price.
Microsoft 365 Business Basic — AU$10.50/user/month
- Business-class email on your own domain (50 GB Exchange Online mailbox)
- Web and mobile versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook - no desktop apps
- Microsoft Teams for chat, meetings and calls
- 1 TB OneDrive storage per user, SharePoint intranet
- AI chat with web grounding and writing assistance
- Spam and malware filtering as standard
Microsoft 365 Apps for Business — AU$15.80/user/month
- Full desktop Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook on PC and Mac
- 1 TB OneDrive storage per user
- No Exchange mailbox, no Teams - pair it with another email service or use it for licence-only needs
Microsoft 365 Business Standard — AU$35.20/user/month
- Everything in Business Basic, plus full desktop apps on up to five devices per user
- Microsoft 365 Copilot in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams - included, not an add-on
- Clipchamp video editing, webinar features in Teams, bookings pages

- Everything in Business Standard, including Copilot
- Microsoft Intune - enforce device compliance, push settings, wipe lost or stolen devices
- Defender for Office 365 - phishing and malicious-link protection beyond standard filtering
- Conditional Access and Entra ID Plan 1 - block sign-ins that fail your security rules
- Azure Information Protection - classify and protect sensitive documents
Which plan should you pick?
If your team lives in email and a browser, Business Basic does the job. Most established businesses land on Business Standard for the desktop apps and Copilot. If you handle client data, run under any compliance obligation, or simply want the Essential Eight-aligned controls every Australian business is being pushed toward, Business Premium is the one we recommend - the security stack it bundles would cost far more assembled from parts.
Teams-free variants of each plan exist at a lower price (for example Business Basic without Teams at AU$8.10) if you're standardised on another meetings platform - ask us and we'll quote them.

Microsoft 365 Business pricing FAQs
Do these prices include GST?
No - Microsoft publishes Australian prices excluding GST, so we've listed them the same way. Your invoice adds GST at checkout, and our quotes always show both figures.
Is Copilot really included in Business Standard and Premium now?
Yes. From 2026 Microsoft bundles Microsoft 365 Copilot into Business Standard and Business Premium, which is why those two plans cost more than the older Teams-era pricing you might remember. Business Basic gets a lighter AI chat experience rather than full work-grounded Copilot.
Can we mix plans across the team?
Yes, and most of our clients do - Business Premium for staff handling sensitive data, Standard for everyone else, Basic for casual or frontline users who only need email. We map licences to roles as part of every setup.
What happens when we grow past 300 users?
300 seats is the ceiling for the Business family. Past that you move to Enterprise plans (Microsoft 365 E3/E5), which drop the cap and add enterprise security and compliance tooling. We handle that transition when it's needed.
Why buy through Synex rather than direct from Microsoft?
